This beautiful handmade scultpure is made in Ayacucho, located in the Southern Sierra region of Peru, nestled in a broad, sunny valley. Ayacucho has long been known as the "City of Churches" and is famous for its various rich folk art, particularly it's intricate wooden "retablos," woven wool designs, and pottery designs known for its reddish terracota hue. The artists will usually dig their own clay from the village, which is a very time-consuming process. Much of their work draws inspiration from everyday life.
